Demand Requirements Planning.

A common issue for companies is reconciling sales forecasts or budgets, with the orders received - and then converting these numbers into the requirements plan to feed the production process.  

DRP is the technique used to aggregate these sales forecasts, replacing forecasts with actual orders where they are known and aggregating these time phased demands for each product from various customers or locations, into a total time phased demand.  This demand is then netted off against on hand inventory and the net requirement, rounded into the correct batch size is passed back to the source, offset by its leadtime.
